Hello! I’m Vanessa, the owner of Plain Jane Interiors. I live in the small town of Goondiwindi, QLD with my husband and 3 children. Running and Interior Design business is something I have wanted to do since the age of 16, but it took me a few years to actually get here (what was I thinking doing an economics degree?!).

I started out in 2006 with a lovely homewares store called Nutmeg Home (which is still going strong thanks to the talented Anna Dawson). After nearly 12 years there something more creative was calling, so after another baby and a diploma in Interior Design I launched Plain Jane Interiors.

My style sits somewhere between traditional and eclectic. I have a rather large obsession with British interiors, particularly the slightly quirky ones with lots of colour. I love certain elements of American style too, particularly homes from the Deep South.

I love spending my time helping people make their renovation ideas come to life, guiding them through their style and design choices and directing them to the best suppliers to source them. Distance is never an issue, and many of my clients are in an entirely different state to me! Being country based helps me take a practical approach to design ideas without sacrificing style, and I can completely relate to being on the tighter end of the budget scale (despite having expensive taste!)

Recently I have been working on the online side of my business. Obsessing over all the lovely things that the UK and USA has to offer has led me to being sourcing some of these things to bring to the Australian market, as well as hopefully creating some of my own. Watch this space.
